Prof. Dr. Alexander I. Netrusov has an initial background in Microbiology. During his career at University, he held different positions in Microbiology Department. At present he holds the positions of Head of Department and of Leading Scientist at TIPS RAS in Moscow (Russia). A. Netrusov has been working on new concepts in membrane technologies related to microbiological processes, such as hydrogen and methane production from cellulose by thermophilic communities and in-situ application of non-porous membranes for process intensification, and was involved in several EU projects (INTAS, Hyvolution, TEMPUS, MemBridge). His recent interests are in microbial fuel cells for the waste removal in integrated systems with enzymatic conversion of hydrogen into electricity. He co-authored more than 120 papers in Russian and English, and more than 30 oral or poster presentations in International Conferences. He is co-author of more than 20 books and book chapters in Russian and English, and holds more than 15 patents. He is a Delegate to FEMS of Russian Microbiological Society and Award Board Member of FEMS.
