Conference Awards

The active participation of young researchers in scientific events is important. To encourage it, the institutions European Membrane Society and European Membrane House will award some of the oral and poster presentations given by PhD students and young researchers up to the age of 30 (please confirm the selection criteria below).
These two Institutions work in total synergy on complementary fields:
  • EMS is the reference learning society on membrane science and technology in Europe.
  • EMH is dedicated to the enhancement of innovation and industrial implementation of membrane-based technologies.

ICCMR11 EMS Best Presenting Awards

European Membrane Society will award the Two Best Oral Presentations and the Two Best Poster Presentations with a diploma and a free student membership to EMS.

These EMS Best Presenting Awards will be given according to the following guidelines:
  • Eligibility: The Awards are intended only for the presenting authors. The candidates must send a certificate from their institutions confirming the respective condition (PhD student or young researcher).
  • Application: The candidates should indicate their interest to participate by ticking the corresponding box in the abstract questionnaire page (first page). The confirmation of the candidates' age will be done at the conference time.
  • Evaluation: A panel of referees from the International Advisory Board will evaluate the oral and poster presentations during the conference. The criteria will include: scientific originality of the contribution; quality of the oral presentation (supporting visuals, dynamism and synthesis capacity), either for regular presentations or for flash presentations. For poster presenters, it will be also considered the clarity of the poster and the quality of the discussion during the poster session.
  • Winners Announcement: The announcement of the awardees will be made at the closing ceremony of the conference.
  • Winners Agreement: Awardees agree, upon participation, to write a short report on their presented work and also on their overall impression of the conference, to be published on the EMS Membrane News.

ICCMR11 EMH Best Contribution Linking Research and Industrial Innovation

European Membrane House is dedicated to enhance the industrial implementation of membrane-based technologies and to help developing a coherent and structured European system for membrane research and technological innovation. In this context, EMH will award the two best original works with potential for industrial application, one from the Oral Presentation Sessions and the other from the Poster Presentation Sessions.

The selection of the EMH Best Ideas Winners will follow the same main guidelines described above. In addition to the referees from the International Advisory Board, some experts coming from the Industry will also take part in the evaluation panel.
These awards will consist of a bank check of 500 Euros for the presenting author and a recognizing diploma for the leader of the Research Unity.
For these specific awards, all the presenters up to the age of 30 are eligible for these awards.

Some additional financial support from sponsoring companies is foreseen, but the exact format is being discussed. Please be attentive to further information, which will be published on the website in due time.
